Mayfair shopping centre has undertaken a thorough disinfecting of its common areas after discovering that two employees had tested positive for COVID-19.

“We have been informed that two people working at Mayfair shopping centre have tested positive for COVID-19,” Laura Poland, Mayfair general manager, said in a statement. “Rest assured that we have been following protocols and guidelines to respond to this situation including all cleaning requirements by a cleaning contractor trained to respond to the situation in the areas under its control.”

The two employees are self-quarantining but no further information was available as to when they were tested, if they had developed symptoms that led to the test or how long they had worked before discovering the tests were positive.

Information about where the employees work has not been released.

“Out of concern for privacy we cannot disclose any additional information about these individuals,” said Poland.

She said that the shopping centre disinfects the common areas on an ongoing basis, with retail tenants having their own cleaning and disinfecting policies and procedures for their individual spaces.
