North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP are investigating a report of shots fired at the security guard of a forest management company in the early morning hours of Dec. 24.

Cpl. Alex Bérubé said police received a report at 2:50 a.m. of shots fired at a Mosaic security guard who was checking on two vehicles parked eight kilometres down Holt Main Road near Waters Road, an area southwest of Duncan.

The cars were black with large off-road tires, he said. Police went to the scene but could not find the vehicles.

The area was closed to the public on Christmas Day while police continued to investigate. They have determined that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public, said Bérubé.

No one was injured.

Police would like to talk to anyone who witnessed the incident.

“If you know of anyone who was in the area, if you witnessed this event or if you have video, please contact the North Cowichan Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522,” said Bérubé.
