Witnesses sought in Nanaimo assault involving 15-year-old girl

Nanaimo RCMP are asking for witnesses to a March 21 altercation in which a 15-year-old girl was assaulted.

Police said the incident happened about 10:40 p.m. in the 2500-block of Labieux Road. The girl, who was attacked by another girl she knew, was injured after being struck by a baton.

Investigators believe the assault was seen by a group of youths and that someone recorded it on video.

Police said the girl suspected of the assault and another female flagged down a passing motorist on Labieux Road and were driven to a residence on the 600-block of 2nd Street.

On March 22, police arrested the alleged attacker and found she had sustained minor injuries from a bladed weapon during the altercation.
