Strong winds that may cause damage are expected in Greater Victoria early Monday evening.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Greater Victoria, with a frontal system moving through Vancouver Island expected to generate winds up to 70 kilometres per hour, gusting up to 90 km/h, across the Juan de Fuca Strait and Haro Strait.

The strongest winds are expected near the water.

Winds will die down Monday evening as the frontal system weakens, Environment Canada says.

High winds may toss loose objects and break tree branches, potentially causing power outages. Motorists are advised to adjust their driving to changing road conditions.
