B.C. Ferries has brought in a 48-passenger water taxi to replace four evening sailings between Swartz Bay and Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island until Monday.

The cancelled sailings of the Skeena Queen are the result of crew shortages, B.C. Ferries says.

The water taxi will leave Fulford Harbour at 5:50 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. and will leave Swartz Bay at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. — the same times as the cancelled sailings.

Other B.C. Ferries on that route are going ahead as planned.

Anyone riding the water taxi can leave their licence-plate numbers with the ticketing agent for free parking at the Swartz Bay terminal.

Another choice is to sail between Crofton and Vesusvius Bay.
