B.C.’s police watchdog is investigating after a cyclist was struck by a marked police car in Brentwood Bay.

The incident took place around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, and the Central Saanich Police Service notified the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. the same day, the IIO said.

The police vehicle struck the cyclist in the 7100-block of Wallace Drive, the department told the IIO.

The watchdog is asking anyone who has video footage or information related to the incident to contact the IIO witness line at 1-855-446-8477 or via the contact form at iiobc.ca/contact-us.

The IIO, an independent civilian oversight agency of police in B.C., investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is an allegation of wrongdoing.
