Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers has released a video of what it calls a “terrifying assault” in the parking lot of Stelly’s Secondary almost a year ago.

In the video, released on Crime Stoppers’ Facebook page with a graphic content warning, five masked and hooded people can be seen punching and kicking an individual who is curled up on the ground between two vehicles in the parking lot.

A bystander is heard laughing and saying: “This is awesome.”

Crime Stoppers said the assault happened about 11 a.m. on June 10, 2022 when five masked people carrying weapons approached three students.

One of the students was attacked with a mallet, a knife and a baseball bat, and suffered head lacerations, extensive bruising and cuts to the hands and arms. The victim is still suffering from the effects of the attack, Crime Stoppers said.

Central Saanich police are asking the public for any information about the attackers and the black, four-door 2013 BMW 335i they fled in.

Contact Central Saanich police at 250-652-4441 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
