Danny Dimanno, 38, a suspected drug dealer from Coquitlam, arrested March 14, charged with two counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and for owning or operating a vehicle with after-market compartment, under the Armored Vehicle and After-Market Compartment Control Act.

A Coquitlam man charged with drug offences in Victoria has no place on Vancouver Island, Victoria police say.

Danny Dimanno, 38, was arrested by the Victoria police Strike Force with assistance from the RCMP Serious and Organized Crime Unit. Officers first spotted Dimanno downtown before tracking him to his alleged “base of operations” in the 3900-block of Carey Road, as well as to a house on the West Shore.

Police said that nine ounces of both cocaine and methamphetamine were found at the time of the arrest. They said Dimanno’s vehicle, which is now the subject of a forfeiture request by police, had hidden compartments added to it to hide drugs that were being transported.

Dimanno has been released from custody with court-imposed conditions that include keeping away from Vancouver Island.

“We have a simple message to those who think they can set up shop to deal drugs in Victoria and Esquimalt,” Victoria police Insp. Brian Fox said in a statement. “You are not welcome in our jurisdiction.
