Victoria police seek witnesses after woman hit in crosswalk at Fairfield and Foul Bay

The driver was reported to be travelling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the stop sign, or stick around after hitting the woman, police say

Victoria police are calling for witnesses to a hit-and-run early Wednesday at the intersection of Fairfield and Foul Bay roads that sent a pedestrian to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 62-year-0ld woman was walking across the road in a crosswalk shortly after midnight when she was hit.

The driver was reported to be travelling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the stop sign before striking the woman, police said.

The driver did not stop after hitting the pedestrian and was last seen travelling southbound on Foul Bay Road towards Gonzales Beach, police said.

The vehicle, described as a white sports car, might have damage to the front passenger side from hitting the pedestrian, VicPD said.

Investigators are asking the driver of the vehicle, any witnesses, and anyone in the area around the time of the incident with dashcam or doorbell footage, or nearby businesses with CCTV footage, to call the E-Comm Report Desk at 250- 995-7654 extension one.
