Victoria police find loaded gun, cocaine during traffic stop

Victoria police discovered a loaded handgun and a plastic bag of cocaine during a traffic stop early Monday morning. About 2 a.m., an officer noticed that a truck travelling in the Bay Street-Tyee Road area had some mechanical defects.

About 2 a.m., an officer noticed that a truck travelling in the Bay Street-Tyee Road area had some mechanical defects. He pulled the truck over at Esquimalt Road and Dalton Street.

When three men in the truck could not produce identification or proof of ownership, they were detained and officers conducted a safety search.

Officers found a loaded .25-calibre handgun under the driver’s seat and a baggie of cocaine in the rear seat.

Three men in their early 20s were arrested. Police are recommending a number of drugs and weapons charges.
