A Victoria man is facing charges after being arrested Tuesday with a replica of an assault rifle.
Victoria police were called to a multi-unit temporary-housing facility in the 1900 block of Douglas Street, near Discovery Street, just after midnight for a report that a man had pointed an assault rifle at someone.
Officers arrived and located the victim, who said the rifle looked like an AK-47. It was later identified as a replica of an M4 carbine.
The victim said the man had brandished the rifle in the building’s parking lot and threatened him. He was not physically harmed.
Officers began a search and evacuated the area as a precaution.
They found a suspect and the rifle, and arrested the man without incident.
Police are recommending charges including assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
