The closure was affecting several B.C. Transit routes.

A motorcyclist is dead after a collision with a pickup truck in downtown Victoria on Tuesday afternoon.

Douglas Street near Pembroke Street was closed in both directions for several hours as Victoria police investigated.

Bystanders and B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics gave treatment but the motorcyclist died at the scene.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and those affected by the incident,” police said in a statement.
