United Way Southern Vancouver Island wants to fill a B.C. Transit bus with unopened boxes of tampons, pads and other menstrual products for people in need on Sunday.

Affording menstrual products can be a struggle for some, the United Way said.

The Period Promise: Fill the Bus event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tillicum Centre mall and marks International Menstrual Hygiene Day.

United Way Southern Vancouver Island has encouraged businesses to have workplace donation drives and bring what they collected to the event.

It launched its 2023 Period Promise campaign on May 1.
