Two vehicles impounded after doing double the speed limit on Foul Bay Road

Two cars clocked travelling at 96-106 km/h in a 50 km/h on Foul Bay Road by Oak Bay police ended up being impounded for seven days, and the drivers were given hefty fines.

Penalties for excessive speeding kick in at 40 kilometres per hour over the limit.

Both incidents happened Sept. 16 on the same section of Foul Bay, near Kings Road.

At about 12:25 a.m., a southbound Toyota Corolla was clocked travelling at 96 km/h in a 50 km/h zone A $368 fine was levied.

Then at about 2:50 a.m., an 18-year-old novice driver with two passengers — which is not allowed for a novice — was pulled over in an Alfa Romeo doing 106 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

Along with the $368 excessive-speed fine, he was given a $109 fine for driving contrary to his licence restrictions and another $109 fine for failing to display an N on the car.
