Two people seriously injured in crash on Duncan highway

Two people were airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in Duncan on Tuesday morning.

Two people were airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in Duncan on Tuesday morning.

The car was heading south on the highway when it veered off to the right and drove into a traffic standard near Mays Road about 11 a.m., said North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP Cpl. Jon Stuart.

The vehicle was severely damaged and the driver and passenger were seriously injured.

Witnesses called 911. An off-duty paramedic was on scene offering aid before B.C. Ambulance paramedics arrived. The male driver and female passenger were airlifted to Victoria General Hospital.

Traffic analysts are investigating the cause of the crash.
