Two could face charges after Victoria police officers assaulted at nightclub

Police were called about 1:20 a.m. last Friday to the 800-block of Yates when a patron refused to leave a nightclub.

Two people accused of assaulting two Victoria police officers responding to a report of an unruly, intoxicated patron at a downtown nightclub could face charges.

Charges of assaulting an officer and disarming an officer have been recommended in the case, which began when police were called about 1:20 a.m. last Friday to the 800-block of Yates when the patron refused to leave the nightclub.

While the patron was being led outside, both the patron and another individual set upon the officers, disarming one. The second person involved was known to the other and had also been asked to leave the club.

Police said a number of bystanders were present during the incident and police would like to speak to anyone who has not yet come forward. Officers would also like to see any video footage of the incident.
