Turnout strong in advance voting for B.C. election

Advance voting in the provincial election got off to a strong start Wednesday with more than 100,000 people casting ballots, Elections B.C. reports. The tally represents about 3.4 per cent of total registered voters. That’s up from 2.

Advance voting in the provincial election got off to a strong start Wednesday with more than 100,000 people casting ballots, Elections B.C. reports.

The tally represents about 3.4 per cent of total registered voters.

That’s up from 2.8 per cent of voters that cast ballots on opening day of advance voting in the 2009 election.

On Vancouver Island, turnout was strongest in the hotly contested ridings of Parksville-Qualicum (2,506), Oak Bay-Gordon Head (1,932), Comox Valley (2,671) and Saanich North and the Islands (2,526).
