A driver was taken to hospital with minor leg injuries Thursday when his pickup truck smashed through a metal railing on Clovelly Terrace and came to rest against a house.
Saanich police Const. Richard Burdet said the vehicle was coming down a hill partially covered with slush. Police were called about 9:50 a.m.
Burdet said the vehicle started to slide on the road, hit the railing and ended up in the front yard, stopping right against the wall of the home.
“No real damage to the house,” he said.
He said a youth was inside “enjoying a snow day” and did not hear the crash.
“He was surprised to see us,” Burdet said.
