B.C. Transit is warning bus riders in Campbell River and the Comox Valley that a driver shortage will cause service disruptions next week.

Schedules could be altered and trips cancelled on short notice next week for both regions, B.C. Transit said in a statement Friday

Trip-cancellation alerts will be issued on its website and customers are encouraged to use the Transit app to stay up to date, it said.

In June, a driver shortage in the Comox Valley also led to cancellations.

PWTransit, which operates transit systems in Campbell River and the Comox Valley, is looking for drivers.

A casual transit driver position pays $21.18 to $28.48 an hour. It requires a valid Class 1 or 2 driver’s license with air-brake endorsement, clear criminal record and drug and alcohol screening.
