Nobody was injured in a fire that engulfed a single-wide trailer in a trailer park off Braidwood Road, close to Highway 19A, in Courtenay on Saturday.
The Courtenay Fire Department responded to a report of a structure on fire at 11 p.m. Saturday.
When they arrived, they encountered dense smoke coming from the trailer.
The trailer’s lone occupant was already outside. The occupant’s dog also escaped uninjured.
As firefighters began to deploy their water lines, flames erupted, but the fire crew was able to contain the blaze, preventing it from threatening adjoining trailers.
The cause of the fire is not known and an investigation is planned.
