Sooke RCMP are looking for three men who forced their way into a home in what police believe was a targeted home invasion Wednesday night.

Just after 11 p.m., three men burst into a home in the 2200 block of Ayum Road in Sooke, said Sooke RCMP Cpl. Jas Mandaher.

They confronted the two men who were home at the time and a struggle ensued, leaving one of the residents with minor injuries. The three men fled the home and the residents called 911.

Mounties and a canine team flooded the area. The police dog tracked the suspects a short distance but then lost the scent, leading investigators to believe they may have fled in a car.

Two of the men were wearing black hoodies and the third wore a dark shirt.

“While a motive is not yet clear, investigators suspect this was a targeted event,” Mandaher said.

Sooke RCMP and the Island district RCMP continue to investigate.

Anyone with information on the home invasion is asked to call Sooke RCMP at 250-642-5241, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
