Three people escaped unharmed from a fire in a basement suite in a Campbell River home.
Campbell River Fire Chief Thomas Doherty said crews were called out just before 1 p.m. Wednesday. Smoke was coming from the basement when they arrived, and the occupants were outside.
“The fire crews were able to make a quick entry,” he said. “The home was located just within a couple of blocks of the fire station.”
The blaze was contained to one area of the basement.
“The home did suffer some smoke damage,” Doherty said.
Emergency Social Services were brought in to support the people involved.
