Three candidates are on the ballot for North Saanich’s byelection on July 8.

Raymon Farmere is a business administration and digital marketing teacher at Multihexa College in Victoria who says in his candidate biography that he would like to assist in the building of more affordable housing options in North Saanich and obtain funding to increase the frequency of bus services in the community.

Ryan Lay, a lawyer who has lived on the Saanich peninsula since 2016, says he values the rural nature of the community.

Kristine Marshall says she brings 20 years of experience working with boards and leading community engagement to council and values local agriculture and food sustainability.

A council seat was vacated in late March when Brett Smyth resigned after clashing with Mayor Peter Jones over the official community plan process during a council meeting.

Advance voting is available on June 28 and July 5. Polls will be open during advance voting and on July 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for all voting days.
