Thousands of people were without power in south Vancouver Island Monday afternoon following a rain and windstorm.

More than 6,000 people in Esquimalt, View Royal, Saanich and Duncan were without power at about 4 p.m.

The causes of the outages, which have all been resolved, include trees down across power lines and equipment failures.
