Thieves steal $30,000 worth of jewelry from Uplands home

The resident had returned home to Ripon Road off Beach Drive after being away for a few days and found dirt tracks in the house

Thieves stole $30,000 worth of jewellery from an Uplands residence this month while the owners were away, police said.

Oak Bay police said they received a report of the break-in last week.

The resident had returned home to Ripon Road off Beach Drive after being away for a few days and found dirt tracks in the house, police said in a statement.

The tracks led to a closet that had missing jewellery worth approximately $30,000, they said.

Oak Bay police has turned over the case to Saanich police’s forensic identification section. An investigation is ongoing.
