Thieves make off with $8,000 in eyewear from Oak Bay store

The investigation has involved the Oak Bay and Saanich police departments, along with an RCMP team.

Thieves smashed a window of an optical store in Oak Bay and made off with 40 pairs of glasses valued at $8,000, according to police.

Oak Bay police responded to an alarm at the business in the 2000 block of Cadboro Bay Road at 4 a.m. last Wednesday. An RCMP dog team was dispatched, but no suspects were found.

The Saanich police forensic team conducted an examination of the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
