Tahsis is on northern Vancouver Island.

The Village of Tahsis will hold a byelection to fill two empty seats at the council table on May 18.

Voting runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Village of Tahsis Recreation Centre, 285 Alpine Rd.

Advance voting is set for May 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the rec centre.

Anyone interested in running for councillor on the five-member council must submit their nomination package between 9 am. April 2 and 4 p.m. April 12.

The election is to fill seats on the five-member council vacated by former councillors Meggan Joseph and Doug Elliot, elected in 2022.

Joseph resigned from council earlier this year because she left the community to work elsewhere.

Elliot, who had a tumultuous relationship with fellow council members, resigned from council this year and was also disqualified from holding office after the village went to the Supreme Court of B.C. after he had missed several consecutive council meetings without cause.
