A man swinging a sword drew a police response to Saanich Commonwealth Place on the weekend.
But when officers arrived, they discovered the “sword” was a plastic prop being used to practice tai chi, a form of exercise and meditation.
The call about the sword came about 12:30 p.m. Saturday from a staff member at the centre, said Sgt. Damian Kowalewich, adding the situation was “remedied in a calm manner.”
Kowalewich said police have to assume a reported weapon is real until they determine otherwise.
