A B.C. Ferries vessel sailing from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen was forced to turn around due to a medical emergency on Sunday afternoon.

Around 1:50 p.m. B.C. Ferries tweeted that the Spirit of British Columbia had returned to the Swartz Bay terminal because a customer was having a medical emergency and required immediate attention.

As a result, the 1 p.m. sailing departed 86 minutes behind schedule, and the 3 p.m. sailing was delayed by about 88 minutes.

The ferry service had cancelled a number of sailings on Friday and Sunday due to staff shortages. Sunday’s cancellations included the 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. sailings from Tsawwassen and the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. sailings from Swartz Bay.
