A 65-year-old man was arrested last week after plainclothes Victoria police officers saw a man exposing his genitalia on a B.C. Transit bus while sitting next to a 12-year-old girl.
The officers were conducting surveillance March 28 after police received information the previous day about an individual committing indecent acts while riding transit buses.
The man was arrested as he tried to exit the bus.
Timothy Bush has been charged with one count of committing an indecent act and one count of exposing genitalia to a minor. He remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance.
Police said anyone who has been the victim of an indecent act is urged to call them at 250-995-7654 or report anonymously to Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
“It takes an immense amount of courage to report sexual offences, and sexualized-violence incidents are underreported,” police said in a statement.
“Our message to those that have been victims of sexualized violence or indecent acts continues to be ‘We Believe You’ and we are here to support you.”
