The Mill Bay-Brentwood Bay ferry service is cancelled Friday because of ongoing staff shortages.

A total of 18 sailings on the Klitsa ferry between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. were cancelled.

B.C. Ferries says it’s bound by Transport Canada safety rules to have a certain number of crew members in specific positions.

The company has been facing difficulties in hiring enough trained mariners to fill needed positions amid a global shortage of trained workers.
