An 19-year-old Sooke man pleaded guilty Thursday to assault causing bodily harm to a correctional officer.
Provincial court Judge Adrian Brooks sentenced David James Chiasson to three months in jail.
Brooks also imposed a 10-year firearms prohibition and ordered Chiasson to give a DNA sample.
The offence took place Sept. 25, 2012, at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre, where Chiasson remains in custody.
