Sooke man pleads guilty to jail assault

An 19-year-old Sooke man pleaded guilty Thursday to assault causing bodily harm to a correctional officer. Provincial court Judge Adrian Brooks sentenced David James Chiasson to three months in jail.

Provincial court Judge Adrian Brooks sentenced David James Chiasson to three months in jail.

Brooks also imposed a 10-year firearms prohibition and ordered Chiasson to give a DNA sample.

The offence took place Sept. 25, 2012, at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre, where Chiasson remains in custody.
