Snow falls in capital region, but it won’t last

Snow has cleared in the Greater Victoria area after morning flurries across the region. But there still a chance of more this long weekend. At 3 p.m. today, Greater Victoria was mainly sunny.

But there still a chance of more this long weekend.

At 3 p.m. today, Greater Victoria was mainly sunny. Temperatures hovered around 1C at the University of Victoria, the airport and Inner Habour.

Environment Canada forecast a few clouds tonight, with a low of -4C across the region. A mix of sun and clouds is expected for Saturday.

There’s a 30 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers on Sunday, according to Environment Canada, with more precipitation expected Monday.

In areas such as Esquimalt the snow began falling at about 7:15 a.m. at -2C, but had risen to 1C by 3 p.m.

There was still light snow in Nanaimo at 2p.m., but it stopped by 3 p.m.
