The section of Cordova Bay Road that runs through Mount Douglas Park will close temporarily. DARREN STONE, TIMES COLONIST

The stretch of Cordova Bay Road that runs through Mount Douglas Park will be closed from March 27 to April 6 while maintenance work related to slope stability is carried out.

The District of Saanich says it has been aware of slope-stability issues on the road since the 1970s.

The closure will extend from Ash Road to Blenkinsop Road, with local traffic allowed on Blenkinsop to the park’s north boundary and from Ash and Cedar Hill roads to the park’s parking lot.

B.C. Transit buses will not be running through the park, and bus stops will be relocated. Check bctransit.com for updates.

Cyclists and pedestrians will allowed through the area but are asked to exercise caution.
