DNA tests have confirmed that a missing Duncan woman is the homicide victim whose body was found burned in Glenora this month, but police have not found her killer.
Major crime investigators believed that Kerrie Ann Stone, 42, was the victim whose body was found on a densely wooded path in the quiet hamlet of Glenora on July 12, but were waiting for forensic evidence to back that up.
DNA samples analyzed at the RCMP forensic lab in Vancouver positively identified Stone as the victim on Tuesday and her parents were notified.
Reached at his home in Ladysmith yesterday, the victim's father, Bob Stone, said he was "not surprised" at the news.
"We had sort of resigned ourselves to the fact that it was [her]," he said, expressing frustration that it took two weeks to confirm. "All I can do is wait for the police to do their job."
Police have yet to identify any suspects or persons of interest, according to Island district spokesman Cpl. Darren Lagan.
Stone was last seen July 7.
