A memorial service honouring the crew of HMCS Esquimalt — the last Canadian warship lost to enemy action during the Second World War — was held at Esquimalt Memorial Park on Tuesday. The ship was torpedoed near Halifax on April 16, 1945. The last of the 27 crew members who survived the attack died last year. Tuesday’s service was hosted by CFB Esquimalt Commander Capt. (Navy) Bob Auchterlonie and Esquimalt Mayor Barb Desjardins.
