Victoria police are looking for a teenager after a series of incidents in which seniors were harassed or followed home.

A 6 a.m. Monday, an older woman out for a walk in the 200 block of Oswego Street, near Simcoe Street, reported that a young man who had been following her ran past, pushing down the brim of her hat and knocking off her glasses.

He ran away laughing.

About half an hour later, a young man matching the description approached a pedestrian in the 100 block of Simcoe Street. The boy flipped the hood of the woman’s jacket onto her head and made rude hand gestures. He then followed the woman home.

On Tuesday, the woman who had her hat knocked off the day before called police after spotting the same young man following her. The man stood outside the woman’s home for a few minutes before running off.

Police were also called on Tuesday by a resident in the 100 block of Oswego Street reporting a suspicious man knocking on her door saying he was collecting for charity. The woman, who said she saw the man wait until her husband left in the car, told police she it was the third day in a row she had seen the young man. She didn’t open the door and told the man to leave.

The suspect is described as 17 to 19 years old with a thin build. He has dark hair, and was last seen wearing dark pants with a maroon sweatshirt with a hood.

Victoria police ask anyone with information on the incidents, or who see the man, to call their non-emergency line at 250-995-7654. Anyone who comes in contact with the man should call 911.
