Shawnigan Lake RCMP said Wednesday that the body of an 81-year-old woman who was reported missing near Shawnigan Lake this week had been found.
The RCMP and Cowichan Search and Rescue had been looking for Janet Klassen after she failed to return from an afternoon walk Tuesday. Her body was found Wednesday afternoon.
Police do not believe criminality was involved in her unexpected death.
The B.C. Coroners Service has been notified and is investigating the death.
Cowichan Search and Rescue said in a Facebook post that Klassen might have become confused or lost in her neighbourhood.
