Search of encampments fails to find missing Nanaimo woman

Police said Shawna Forbes was supposed to pick up a prescription she urgently needs on March 20, but no one has seen or heard from her since.

RCMP in Nanaimo are asking the public for help locating a 43-year-old woman whose family says they have not heard from her for more than two weeks.

Police said Shawna Forbes was supposed to pick up a prescription she urgently needs on March 20, but no one has seen or heard from her since. She was reported missing by her family on Monday

“Her family and support network is concerned for her safety and well being,” said the RCMP.

Police said Forbes has been living in tent encampments throughout Nanaimo for the past several months, but patrols through the camps and shelters by police have failed to find her.

Forbes is described as white, 5-foot-6, and 130 pounds with long blonde hair and hazel eyes. Her family believes she may be in the company of Aaron Payne, an acquaintance.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
