One man was arrested in connection with the drug bust by the Nanaimo RCMP and the RCMP Emergency Response Team.

More than 1.6 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine was seized when Nanaimo RCMP and the RCMP Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a city residence last week.

Police said they were already in the area investigating several other criminal offences on Oct. 18 when they learned a residence might contain a significant amount of drugs, as well as processing and packaging materials.

Officers got authorization for a warrant to enter the residence and discovered the drugs, they said.

A second warrant for a search of another location turned up a large sum of cash, police said.

One man was arrested.

“Many police officers participated in this investigation and put in long hours to make this seizure happen,” said Const. Simon Gallimore, adding laboratory analysis of the seized substances is required prior to the file being submitted to the Crown for charge approval.
