A Saanich teenager was arrested Saturday night after assaulting two other teenagers who were leaving the Oak Bay Tea Party.

The 17-year-old suspect approached the two 18-year-old victims around 9:30 p.m. as they left the Beach Drive event. The two were assaulted before the male suspect took off with an iPhone he stole from the 18-year-old males, said Oak Bay police Sgt. Ray Maxwell.

The victims received minor injuries. Police would not discuss the injuries, although one male was taken to hospital. He was released shortly after.

The police were able to arrest the suspect based on a description they received from people at the tea party. The suspect was released with recommendations of robbery charges.
