Further details are emerging from two apparent stabbings on Saturday in the Tillicum area.

Saanich police now believe the incidents happened in a Tillicum Road residence across the street from Tillicum Centre, but the two victims located are not co-operating with the investigation.

The first victim, aged 24, was found at the Chevron station at Tillicum and the Trans-Canada Highway.

“One of the stab wounds came very close to puncturing his heart,” said Saanich police Sgt. Steve Eassie. “Thankfully it did not and his injuries were later ruled to be relatively minor.”

After hospital treatment, he was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Surrey.

A second injured man was found Saturday near the Pearkes Recreation Centre, on the other side of the shopping mall. The 35-year-old had “obvious signs” of having been in an altercation involving a knife, Eassie said, but he claimed his injuries were the result of a skateboarding accident.

He was also treated at hospital and later released.

Police have ruled out the two men having hurt each other in a fight.
