Saanich police are asking motorists to exercise “extreme caution” this morning after multiple reports of motorists having difficulty on icy roads.

Black ice has caused “significant hazards” for vehicle traffic, said Const. Ryan Miller.

Police responded to several vehicles sliding on black ice in the 1800-block of Munn Road, with several ending up in the ditch, Miller said in a statement.

“No injuries were reported, but the road conditions are causing some delay while police stand by for salt and tow trucks,” said Miller.

Police also received reports of slick conditions on Hartland Road, near the CRD landfill, said police. Trash -collection trucks were apparently sliding backwards near the top of the road, police said.
