The latest robbery happened early Monday morning when a man went into the store at about 12:25 a.m. and pulled a knife. He demanded money and ran off along nearby Whiteside Street.

“Thankfully, nobody was hurt during this incident,” said Saanich police Sgt. Steve Eassie. “The employees obviously were shaken, however, they did everything that they could do and provided the male with the cash on hand.”

The same store was robbed June 25, also by a lone man. It that case, the robbery took place between 4 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. and the intruder was armed with a screwdriver.

Monday’s suspect was described as five foot six to six feet tall, of average build and having a dark or tanned complexion. He was wearing a white hoodie with the hood pulled tight around his face, a dark camouflage jacket over the hoodie, dark pants and white runners.

Eassie said there are similarities between the two suspect descriptions, but a definitive link has not been made.

“The physical descriptors of both do match to some degree, but it is difficult to say for certain whether they are, in fact, the same individual,” he said.

Eassie said police would like to hear from anyone with information that could help them locate a suspect.
