Saanich police arrested two men for stealing from a Tim Hortons.

Around 1:30 a.m. today, staff at the Tim Hortons on Ravine Way in Saanich called police to report two unruly men had stolen some ice cream from a freezer display and fled.

One employee tried to chase them down, going south on Blanshard Street.

But it was a Saanich police patrol officer who spotted the men on Saanich Road. Both men were stuffing something into their mouths.

When police confronted the men to question them, they could not respond with full and frozen faces. Neither had an explanation for their actions.

The two men, 39 and 44, were arrested and taken back to the Tim Hortons.

Sgt. Dean Jantzen said in a release, “After many tears and lengthy explanations,” the men were released and will appear in court. Charges of theft are being considered.
