RV fire spreads to Nanaimo home, causing extensive damage

No one was injured when a fire broke out just after midnight Tuesday in a recreational vehicle parked next to a home on Western Acres Road in Nanaimo. The fire spread quickly to the home and into the attic, causing extensive damage.

Two people sleeping in the home and one in the RV got out safely.

Fire crews were able to rescue a cat as they made their way through the structure.

Nanaimo Fire Rescue credited the presence of smoke alarms for the outcome.

No cause or damage estimate have been released.
