A report of shots fired in an apartment in Nanaimo early Monday led to a large police presence and the seizure of five BB guns.
Nanaimo RCMP were alerted about 2:20 a.m. after shots were reported in the 4700-block of Uplands Drive.
A woman who opened the unit’s door when police arrived was arrested and removed from the scene.
Officers entered and arrested three other adults inside.
Police located multiple handguns and a long gun lying on a bed. On closer inspection, they determined the weapons were all BB guns.
Officers concluded no shots were actually fired, but the BB-guns were seized to prevent any further incidents and will be destroyed, police said.
All those arrested were released without charge.
