Martin Dubitski is wanted for assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and ammunition contrary to order, and possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace.

Port Hardy RCMP is asking the public for help locating a man wanted on assault and weapons charges who is considered armed and dangerous.

Martin Dubitski is wanted for assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and ammunition contrary to order, and possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace.

Mounties say Dubitski has an extensive criminal record and is believed to be actively evading police.

The charges stem from an incident involving Dubitski that has resulted in recent heavy police presence on the Gwaʼsala-ʼNakwaxdaʼxw Nations.

Dubitski is known to travel between Port Hardy and Campbell River, and has ties throughout Vancouver Island, said police.

Dubitski, 38, is Indigenous, six-foot-three and 230 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He has several tattoos, including on both sides of his neck, and may have a goatee beard.

Anyone who sees Dubitski is asked not to approach him but to call 911, the RCMP or police of jurisdiction in your area.
