Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning late Thursday afternoon for east Vancouver Island from Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay, and Courtenay to Campbell River.

Rain is also in the forecast in Victoria, Duncan and Nanaimo for the next seven days.

The rainfall warning replaced an earlier fog warning for Courtenay to Campbell River.

A wind warning was also issued for Greater Victoria, with strong winds expected Wednesday night through Thursday morning.

Southeast winds are expected to be 70 kilometres per hour, gusting to 90 km/h. The winds will develop near Juan de Fuca Strait and spread to Haro Strait Thursday morning before easing off.

Environment Canada advised that power outages and fallen tree branches are possible, as are damaged roof shingles and windows.
