Victoria police are investigating a possible arson after a blaze at a Queens Avenue home early this morning, according to spokesman Const. Mike Russell.

Emergency crews went to the fire at 860 Queens Ave. around 2:30 a.m., after a 9-1-1 call from a man in the area. He heard a loud explosion from the abandoned home and saw smoke.

Victoria firefighters found the residence engulfed in flames. The intense heat kept firefighters from entering the home. No one was in the building so they were able to fight the fire aggressively and within two hours had the blaze under control.

Fire, smoke and water damage to the home was extensive and estimates from Victoria Fire place the loss at approximately $600,000. No one was injured.

Victoria fire and police were called to investigate the cause and circumstances of the blaze as they believe it was intentionally set.
